There are many things going on this weekend, all of which deserve at least some notice. At Noon today we have the annual 50-50 drawing. Winners will be notified immediately. Thank you for your support of the drawing. The Traditional Religious Education Program begins this weekend, any further questions check in with Diana Saverino. The Confirmation Program is also underway on Sunday nights. This is Priesthood Sunday. Honestly, I am on special days, weeks, and months overload, but I appreciate that there is a Sunday for priests as well. I am grateful for the service to our parish of Father Adam Midor, Monsignor Jack Carroll, Father Tony Carotenuto, and Father Gene Roberts. Their service here enables our parish to be of full service to the members and open to the needs of the community.

While things are moving more slowly with the completion of the modular building than we had expected, we are at least able to accommodate the students and their needs in the meantime. Yet, with an opening student body of 554, we are quite happy with the way in which the school year has opened and is progressing. The kinks for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up always take some time to ease, but overall it is a smooth operation. Our staff seems to be in a really good place right now.

Well, it finally happened -- students showed up for school on Thursday ready and excited to embark on a new school year. We are grateful to Megan Gallagher, Bill Lamb, Rich Romero, Tom McGowan and the entire buildings and grounds staff for their hard work at getting us ready for this point. It always feels like we are not even close to being ready and then BAM! it happens. The new modular units are not yet ready for occupancy, but we are getting close, and we have a good contingency plan in place now anyway.

It is that time of the year -- the faculty reports to school on Tuesday and all of the students will be here on Thursday for the first day of school. It is always exciting to open the school year -- the rhythm of our lives just seems poised for the routine of school. We are, by and large, in good shape to get it going. There are some adjustments we still have to make before we have the CO for the new mobile classroom unit, but we expect all of that to be cleared up soon.
