Weekly Letter from the Pastor

Happy Mother’s Day! 

This is a special day of the year when we honor and celebrate our Mothers. Of course, for many this day is also tinged with sadness as they remember their Mothers who have passed, especially over the past year. Our prayers and best wishes to all Mothers. I expect to get to see my Mother this afternoon, and I hope many of you do as well -- and that you Mothers and Grandmothers get to see your children and grandchildren. May is always a busy month, and especially as we focus on the many anniversaries that come up this time of the year. May 28 is the 60th anniversary of the ordination of Msgr. Jack Carroll to the priesthood. We will celebrate this milestone at the 11am Mass on Sunday, May 31 followed by a reception in the gym. Father Tony observes his 58th anniversary of ordination on May 25.

By way of reminder, this Thursday is not Ascension Thursday in the dioceses of New Jersey, so there is no obligation to attend Mass that day. Ascension now transfers to next Sunday.

Things are shaping up pretty well for the school next year. We are still looking for a full-time middle school (6th and 7th grade) religion teacher. Some experience, and certainly a degree in theology/religious studies is preferred. Please make contact with the school office or Mrs.Tobino in HR.

There are some openings for volunteers in the Summer RE Camp, make contact with the Faith Formation office for more details. 

There are some summer projects coming along that we will be discussing in future letters. Both the school and the church are in need of some facility enhancements, so we are finalizing our summer punchlist. Rich Romero, director of buildings and grounds, is doing his best to keep everything organized. It is going to be another busy and exciting summer here on our campus.
