Weekly Letter from the Pastor

Happy Feast of the Ascension of the Lord. Although it has been several years now, it still seems awkward to celebrate this feast on Sunday instead of Thursday, but that is common now in most of the country. 

Next weekend is the Solemnity of Pentecost and the official end of the Easter Season. Next Saturday we will celebrate the Pentecost Vigil Mass at 5:00 pm. This Mass mirrors the Easter Vigil, featuring several readings before the Gospel. Just be ready for a slightly longer Mass that evening. We will also be celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation for XX of our adult parishioners who desire to complete their initiation into the faith. We welcome them and we pray for them.

Of course next weekend is Memorial Day Weekend as well!! The Summer Season “officially” begins at the Jersey Shore. Enjoy the weekend and travel safely. 

This Monday is our first golf outing and the weather looks perfect for the day we have planned. Over one-hundred golfers have registered for the event, so we are looking forward to a nice day on the course, good fellowship among the assembled golfers, much fun, and yes, some additional revenue for the operation. 

Otherwise, we are both winding down the school year and revving up for what will be a busy summer ahead. Several major projects are on the horizon. Firstly, the reminder that we are still taking orders for the brick project along the walkway leading up to the school. Check the website or call Patti Dickens for details on securing a brick. This not only helps to memorialize our legacy, and beautify our school, it is also a good source of revenue to offset the cost incurred last summer for the replacement of the sidewalks and walkways on the property. 
We are also engaging in a new landscape design for the front of the building. We should see some updating during the next few weeks. 

After this past winter, the roof on the church, which was already in a stressed state, now needs to be replaced. We will embark on this project as soon as school closes in June. We hope to avoid issues related to water damage to the structure. There is already some water seeping into the building, and we are fortunate to have had little hard driving rain over the past year.
