The final school bells rang on Wednesday and the students and teachers are on their much needed summer break. It was a very good school year here and we are happy about the projects for the summer and the coming school year. We are anticipating an increased enrollment of about thirty students this fall, bringing us to about 550 students in the school. We are in pretty good shape for teachers and everything is lining up for the placement of a new modular unit to house our preK-4 students. This is a self-contained three classroom unit that will be placed between the second and third wings of the school building. This will match the two-classroom unit we placed between wings one and two several years ago to house the preK-3 students.
This expansion gives us the flexibility to have three classrooms for several of the grades in the lower school where enrollment is booming. It also means that we are able to create the dedicated music room in the building that we pledged two years ago and has been in the planning stages since. Although we had to pivot our plans due to a failure of the first construction company, this new plan will clearly work to our advantage.
The replacement of the roof of the church will be underway this week. It will not disrupt the ordinary function of the church, so morning Masses will be in the church as per usual. I wish to thank those who have contributed to the roof replacement project. Personal letters are on the way.
The brick install project at the entrance to the school and the Adoration Chapel will take place later in the summer as well. There is still time to purchase a dedicated brick – please make contact with Patti Dickens for more details.
There are other smaller projects that are planned or in progress for the school and parish buildings this summer. Thanks to Rich Romero for coordinating all of this activity.
There are still some slots available for the Summer Camp-Out, please make contact with the school office for more information on that as well.
Thank you to all who make this work possible here at the parish.
